WEBBER TWP. — Area youth and families are invited to enjoy a day at the park and have a time of discovery, learning and activities during the ninth annual Get Outdoors Day.

The fun will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Community Family Youth Park across from VFW Post No. 5315 on M-37 north of Baldwin.

Webber Township Parks and Recreation Committee is hosting this national event, to promote youth getting outdoors.

This is the first time in two years Webber is hosting the event due to the COVID pandemic, Webber Township Supervisor Ernie Wogatzke said.

"We are getting some donations for food. Cannacare has donated some food money and GEO should be also, and around the community as well. I think we have that covered, because we can't use money from the general fund to buy food" Wogatzke said. "I think we'll have a good turnout of kids.

Youth can look forward to Pixie's Pony Rides, archery with the Lake County Sportsman's Club, Nature Discovery reptile display, as well as getting a chance to interact with Webber Township Fire Department, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Forest Service, Lake County Marine Patrol, Mason/Lake Conservation District to help teach kids about invasive species, and others.

Families can also enjoy free food and refreshments. Free rides are available (within Lake County) to and from the event through Dial-a-Ride, by calling 231-745-7311.
