Edwin Draper

Edwin Gray Draper died peacefully at home on January 4, 2014.  He was born the sixth child of Ernest and Nellie (Williams) Draper. Following high school, Ed joined the  army. When he returned from duty, he married Shirley Joan Baker on April 24, 1954. They raised six children together.

Edwin worked for the Lake Osceola State Bank in Baldwin for 18 years. While in Baldwin, he was active on several boards and a Boy Scout Master for 10 years. In 1983, he moved his family to Garland, Texas where he worked as chief auditor for Merchant Bank and then as an accountant for La Madeline’s restaurant chain until his retirement.

Edwin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley; his daughters, Debra (Glenn) Ray and Denise (Paul) Zimmermann; his sons, Edwin Draper, Jr., Douglas (Debbie) Draper and Norman (Lori) Draper. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer (Raymond) Brand, Christopher (Carina) Rogers, Sara Rogers, Katelynn Wogatzke, Stephen Zimmermann, Jordan Draper and Nicole Charpentier. He also has 6 great grandchildren, Isabella, Isaiah, Peighton, John, Grayson, and Miles. He is also survived by his sisters, Donna Byam, Vesta Rekoph and Barbara (Steve) DeLoach; sisters-in-law Donna Kipp, Marjorie Conner, Elaine Baker, Ann Baker, Jean Draper and Donna Draper; brother,  Ross (Joyce) Draper; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Ralph (Sharon) Baker, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceeded in death by son, Bradley Jay Draper; his brothers, Jasper (Clara) Draper, Bruce Draper, and Keith Draper; his brothers-in law Albert Byam, Myles Rekoph, and Stanley Mrugalski. He also was preceded by one sister, Wanda Mrugalski.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 21, at Verdun Funeral Home with interment at Luther Cemetery.
