Cooking for One wraps up at St. Ann's in Baldwin

BALDWIN — Each Thursday, participants cooked up something good in the kitchen at St. Ann's in Baldwin and will have plenty of knowledge left over for their own kitchen table as the Cooking for One course wraps up.

The class, hosted weekly February through mid-March at St. Ann's in Baldwin, was presented by Michigan State University Extension partnering with Bread of Life Food Pantry. Thursday, March 17, was the last class.

"Participants completed a nutrition class covering food safety, nutrition and physical activity. Each week the class prepared a recipe from the workbook together and earned a certificate," said Rachael Gillespi, MSU Extension instructor for the class.

Not only did participants learn important skills and tips, the class brought people together for a time of sharing and hands-on activity. Participants even got to sample the healthy creations the group made, such as hummus, taco salad, lentil veggie burgers and more.

"MSU Extension would like to extend a special thanks to Bread of Life Food Pantry Director Lynne Mills, St. Ann’s Church, and all the volunteers for helping to make this class a success," Gillespie added.
