BALDWIN — Another successful Cooking for One class at the Henrietta Summers Senior Center in Baldwin ended recently.

Cooking for One is a six-week series class presented by Michigan State University Extension that provides nutrition and food safety education, physical activity, and group preparation of a recipe out of the workbook.

Some of the simple, healthy recipes prepared this session included Asian Mango Chicken Wraps, Half-Veggie Burgers, and Waldorf Salad. This made for a great class with previous years attendees and new participants coming together to learn and share about healthy living.

“It’s always great to see how participants incorporate change throughout the class by adding fruit to their diet or tracking water intake,” said MSU Extension Community Nutrition Instructor Rachael Gillespie.

There was a large emphasis on community at this site with a large group and many talks about coming together more often. Future plans for this site include a focus on physical activity with another upcoming adult class, and a youth nutrition class for teens in the summer.
