LUTHER — Santa was sporting a Hawaiian shirt, a pair of shorts, sandals and a beach hat at the Luther Lions Club last Wednesday. Along with his helper, the North Pole pair were a cool presence at the monthly Luther Lions dinner with a "Christmas in July" theme, raising money to give back to the community.

"We had a great turnout and sold out of dinners Wednesday," Lions member Dennis Karczynski said. "We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries, green beans and desserts."

The monthly dinners support Feeding America, which will have a mobile pantry available at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Luther Lions Club until food is gone.

To support this effort to help put food on tables of local folks, the Luther Lions next fundraiser dinner is 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, with pork loin, baked potatoes, apple cause, corn and desserts on the menu.
