VanAntwerp has worked with the district for 27 years, including 26 years as a kindergarten teacher. She’s taking over the role of principal after Bruce Mangum moved to his new position as the assistant superintendent of instructional services.
“I’m excited and honored to take on this new role and I look forward to making a broader positive impact on our students’ success,” VanAntwerp said. “I’ve built strong relationships with our staff, students and their families over the years, and I’m optimistic those relationships will help us make the 2022-23 school year a great one.”
VanAntwerp has her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and master’s in early childhood education from Grand Valley State University. She’s in the process of receiving her administration certificate through the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals.
“We are thrilled to have Diane in place as the principal of Baldwin elementary school,” Superintendent David Forrester said. “She is a passionate educator who is willing to listen to others and grow with the challenges of the job, and is a great addition to our leadership team.”
