The educational sessions included topics on judicial security, judicial ethics in a changing court environment, and emotional intelligence as a foundation to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. There was also a judicial wellness activity where attendees participated in Tai Chi. The Retreat ended with a worship service Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Idlewild.
“The retreat was an opportunity to come together as black judges and reset ourselves and contribute to the restoration and education of Historic Idlewild,” said Oakland County Circuit Judge Kameshia Gant, who serves as the president of ABJM.
The Association of Black Judges of Michigan was founded in 1979.
