BITELY — Alan Loren Crysler, 67, of Bitely, passed away at his home on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016.

He was born in Muskegon to Loren and Fern Crysler on Nov. 1, 1948.  He graduated from Fremont High School in 1966 and then went into the military.  He served our country for 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Vietnam and later as a courier.  During his service, he earned many awards including a Meritorious Service Medal, a Silver Star and three Bronze Stars.  Later he worked for Michigan Works! from which he retired.

Alan was the president of the Lake County Honor Guard, was a lifetime member of the AMVETS Post No. 1988 and the VFW Post No. 5315 in Baldwin, and was the past president of the Bitely Better Conservation Club.  Alan enjoyed bowling and especially enjoyed hunting with his daughter, Missie.

Alan leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Melissa Crysler, of Fremont; his parents, Loren Crysler, of Bitely, and Fern (Munford) Crysler, of Fremont; his partner, Arleeta Bartlett, of Bitely; his sister, Charlene Bacon, of Fremont; his half-sister, Ruth (Brian) Sweers, of Kent City; his nieces, Brooke (Tom) Bradshaw, of Fremont, Brianne and Morgan; and great-nieces, Aubrey, Alyssa and Emersyn.  He also leaves two aunts, Gertrude and Viola; a special cousin and friend, Brian Crysler; and many other cousins and special friends.

Services for Alan took place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at Verdun Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lucky Fulton officiating.
