Williams Island/Idlewild beautification project receives $2,000 donation

Sheriff’s Charity Drive continues to support local charities

LAKE COUNTY — Yates Township officials were presented with a check for $2,000 from Sheriff Rich Martin as part of the ongoing Sheriff’s Charity drive.

“It was a privilege to issue out another check today from one of our charity campaigns,” Martin said. “Today’s recipient is Yates Township, for the Williams Island and Idlewild beautification projects.”

A $1,000 dollar donation will go to the Williams Island improvement project and a $1,000 donation will go to the Idlewild beautification project.

The projects include playground improvements, landscaping, facilities upgrades, a nature center and rehabilitation of the Historic Flamingo Club, according to the township master plan.

The Sheriff’s department charities include the Sheriff's Returnables for Charity Campaign, the Blessing of the Bikes Shirt Drive and the Special Cause Sheriff Patch Drive.

To date, the following charities have received financial support:

•AMVETS Post 1988 — $2000

•Luther Lions Club — $2000

•VFW Post 5315 — $2000

•Bread of Life Food Pantry — $2000

•Peacock Senior Center — $1000

•Irons SDA Community Center/Pantry — $1000

•Henrietta Senior Center — $1000

•Baldwin Youth Football Club — $1000

•Chase Public Library — $1000

•Luther Fire Department — $1000 (for the purchase of rescue sleds)

•Shrine Of The Pines Museum — $1000

•Williams Island Park Improvement — $1000

•Idlewild Beautification Projects — $1000

The total amount given to non-profits to date is $17,000.

These are ongoing programs that will continue to benefit charities within Lake County.
