White Cloud to host antique appraisal fair

WHITE CLOUD — Those in the midst of spring cleaning are invited to brush the dust off the old relics lying around their homes and bring them to a White Cloud fair to get appraised next weekend.

On May 3, White Cloud will host local experts representing more than 200 years of combined experience in valuing antiques, collectibles, used and rare books, jewelry, weapons, and more. The antique appraisal fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Newaygo County Commission on Aging building, located at 93 S. Gibbs St. in White Cloud.

The public is invited to bring their antiques, books, heirlooms, collectibles, firearms, knives and mystery treasures to be appraised. The cost of an appraisal is $5 per item, with a limit of five items per person. If an item is too large for one person to carry, please substitute a photo. The fundraising event will benefit the Newaygo County Museum and Heritage Center.

The experienced appraisers on hand will include Eric Blok, Jr. and Sr., of Gold Buyers in Grant; Donna Friar, of This Old House Antiques and Resale in Newaygo; Terry Harrison, of Country View Auction in Grant; Gabe Konrad, of Bay Leaf Old and Rare Books in Newaygo; Rob Osborne, of Osborne’s Gunsmithing in White Cloud; Bob Rottier, of Rottier Auction Service in Fremont; and Tim Steele, of Ryan’s Card and Coin in Fremont.

Friends of the Museum and Heritage Center will have lunch and baked goods available for purchase on site along with a variety of local history publications.
