Where did 2011 end up going?

Hey, can anybody tell me where 2011 went? Wasn’t it just a couple of months ago that we rang in 2011 as the New Year? And here we are three months into the New Year. This past year sure has had a lot of things take place huh? Many good things happened to us as well as some bad things. There is one common denominator with everything that has taken place this year; whether it’s good or bad, and that is this: It’s in the past.

The Bible says in Matthew 16:26, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” Has 2011 been a profitable year for you so far? I hope so. But, is it profitable by man’s standards or God’s? Have you been living for God 25 percent of the time, 50 percent of the time, or 75 percent of the time?

Do you need improvement in your walk with God? Join the club. The great news is that God wants us to walk close to Him. If we have sinned and are not in close fellowship with Him then do what I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

If 2010 wasn’t the way you wanted it to be – and so far 2011 isn’t either - do something about it. Ask God just as King David asked God after his adulterous affair with Bathsheba: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation.” Start today with a walk with God. Let’s live the rest of 2011 as though it may be our last year. You never know who will leave this world unexpectedly. I‘m reminded of what James 4:14 says, “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeared for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
