West Shore Community College Jazz Band to perform

SCOTTVILLE - The West Shore Community College Jazz Band will perform its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. on April 13, at the A.O. Carlson Arts Performing Arts Center on the Mason County Central Schools campus in Scottville.

The jazz band, under the direction of Tom Thomas, will present a variety of traditional, contemporary, and swing jazz arrangements. The band consists of community members and students.

The spring concert of the WSCC Community Choir, under the direction of Becky Sopha, is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. for April 14, at Ludington Area Center for the Arts on South Harrison Street.

The choir will perform works by English composer John Rutter, a selection from Braham’s Requiem “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place,” a medley of tunes written by George Gershwin, and a piece written by Eric Whitacre based on a poem by Rudyard Kipling, “The Seal Lullaby.”

The concert will also include performances by the choir’s Women’s Octet, the Men’s Ensemble, the Red Hat Mamas, and several soloists.

Ticket prices are $5 general admission or $15 unlimited family discount. All West Shore students are admitted free.
