We should value our friends and keep in touch with them

Winter finally made it to Michigan. It’s hard to believe we had no snow on the ground until January. The hunters didn’t have a good season. The snowmobiler’s and the skiers waited patiently, and now here it is. We really can’t complain about this winter season because we only have six weeks of winter left.

The first day of spring is March 20.

Father Ron is recovering from surgery in Muskegon. We hope you will join us in praying for a successful recovery for him.

We just finished our winter Wii bowling league. Our new champs are Cheryl Williams and Karen Hamilton. Congratulations to both of you for doing a great job. We will start our spring league soon.

On Feb. 14, we are celebrating Valentine’s Day. We will be doing the goodie walk. This is good exercise and a lot of fun too. We have a large Valentine bear holding a box of candy to raffle off to one lucky senior. Also we are selling single roses for you to give to your sweetheart. The fun will begin at 10 a.m.

On Feb. 20, we will be closed to observe President’s Day.

We have a trip planned on April 14th to go see Shipshewana on the road. We will leave Baldwin at 8 a.m. and return to Baldwin at 3:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. You must be a registered participant of St. Ann’s Senior Services to sign up for this trip.

We also have seats available for the trip to Boston. This is a six-day, five-night motor coach trip. The cost is $495 per person based on double occupancy. Stop in or call for more information on these trips.

I got an email the other day and liked it so much I wanted to share it with you.

Why do I have a variety of friends who are all so different in character? How can I get along with them all? I think that each one helps to bring out a “different” part of me. With one of them I am polite. I joke with another friend. I sit down and talk about serious matters with one. With another I laugh a lot. I may have a cup of coffee with one. I listen to one friend’s problems. Then I listen to another one’s advice for me.

My friends are all like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. When completed, they form a treasure box. A treasure of friends! They are my friends who understand me better then myself, who support me through good days and bad days. We all pray together and for each other.

In summary, we should value our friends and keep in touch with them. We should try to see the funny side of things and laugh together, and pray for each other in the tough moments. Thanks for being one of my vitamins.
