Watkins returning as football coach
BALDWIN — Robert Watkins will be returning this fall as Baldwin’s 8-player football coach for his third straight season.
Athletic director Scott Pedigo said the appointment was approved at a Baldwin school board meeting earlier this month.
Michael Anderson and Perry Pieske will be the assistant coaches.
Watkins has been a longtime coach for the school’s various sports including football, basketball and track. He’s been Baldwin’s 8-player coach the past two seasons. Baldwin was 3-6 in Watkins’ first season and 0-9 last year.
Pedigo indicated Watkins would have some type of summer schedule for his players, who will start official practices on Aug. 12. The first home game is Aug. 30 with Camden-Frontier.
After the opener, Baldwin will play, in order Bear Lake, Mesick, Central Lake, Manistee Catholic Central, Marion, Big Rapids Crossroads, Brethren and Onekama.
