Troutarama announces dates for 2012 festival

BALDWIN — “It’s going to be early.”

At the annual organizational meeting of the Baldwin Troutarama Festival Board of Directors held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Baldwin Business Center it was announced that the 2012 Troutarama Festival will be held Wednesday, July 18 to Sunday, July 22.

Members of the festival board report that organizers were unable to secure a carnival for the traditional fourth-and-last weekend of July date.

Faced with the choice of cancelling the festival, having no carnival, or moving to the third weekend of July, the board members made the difficult decision of moving the Festival.

Hopefully this move will not prove to be a major inconvenience for most people.

Although the festival is moving, the board reports that all of the events that make the festival popular will return.

From the Scottville Clown Band to Miss Lake County, the Kid’s Fishing Derby to the Entertainment Tent, the Grand Parade to the carnival, the 2012 Troutarama will be as fun filled as ever.

The board would also like to announce that monthly Troutarama planning committee meetings will be held the second Tuesday of each month at 5:15 p.m. at the Baldwin Business Center. The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 14.

All committee members, event organizers and the general public are invited and encouraged to attend. In addition, anyone who would like to make suggestions for the festival can do so by turning in a written suggestion at the Wenger Insurance office.

Also at the annual meeting the following Board of Director officers were elected: Fred Olson, president, Seth Wenger, vice president, and Scott Olson, secretary/treasurer.
