Trial court

The following actions were taken in Lake County Trial Court the week ending August 22:

  •  Steven Edward Baldwin, 29, of Baldwin, was arraigned on two charges of sex offender-failure to register and was bound over to Circuit Court. Bond was set at $10,000, ten percent.
  •  Brian Charles Baugus, 24, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of receiving and concealing stolen property-$200-$1,000. A pretrial was scheduled for Srptember 5, 2013 at 9 a.m. Bond was set at $2,500, ten percent.
  •  Brian Charles Baugus, 24, of Baldwin, was bound over to Circuit Court on a charge of breaking and entering-a building with intent. Bond was set at $7,500, ten percent.
  •  Heather Eileen Boroff, 24, of Bitely, was arraigned on a charge of retail fraud-third degree. A pretrial was scheduled for September 5, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $3,500, ten percent.
  •  Michael Patrick Cull, 35, of Irons, was arraigned on a charge of assault/assault and battery. A pretrial was scheduled for September 5, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Bond of $2,500 was continued with the condition of no contact with the victim.
  •  Richard Raymond Dagen, 48, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to a charge of criminal sexual conduct-victim between 13-16. The defendant was sentenced to 36 months probation, nine months jail, 90 days now with credit for time served of one day, work release authorized, fines and costs of $668, crime victims restitution of $130 and a supervision fee of $720. A charge of using a computer/internet to communicate with another to commit a crime was dismissed.
  •  Jeremy Alan Dezeeuw, 39, of Holland, pleaded guilty to an added count of disturbing the peace. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 90 days in jail, to serve ome day now, with credit for time served and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of disorderly person-drunk was dismissed.
  •  Loretta Jane Hamblin, 38, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without security. A pretrial was scheduled for September 5, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.
  •  Deangelo Monroe Henderson, 24, of Idlewild, pleaded no contest to a charge of home invasion-second degree. The defendant was sentenced to 20 months to 15 years with Michigan Department of Corrections, with credit for times served of 135 days, fines and costs of $68, crime victims restitution of $130 and restitution of $500.
  •  Chrles Edwin Howe, 61, of Brohman, pleaded guilty to an added charge of operating impaired. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $1,130, 93 days in jail, to serve six days now over two weekends and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of operating while intoxicated was dismissed.
  •  Michael Joseph McGowan, 29, of Muskegon, was arraigned on charges of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and operating a motor vehicle without security.Bond of $5,000, ten percent was posted. A pretrial was scheduled for September 5, 2013 at 9 a.m.
  •  Michael David McKerchie III, 25, of Wayland, was bound over to Circuit Court on charges of escape-prison, unlawful driving away of an automobile and habitual offender-fourth offense notice. Bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.
  •  Shari Renee Sauntman, 28, of Hersey, was arraigned on a charge of domestic violence. A pretrial was scheduled for September 5, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Bond of $5,000, ten percent was posted.
  •  Jasmine Charise Singleton, 22, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charges of operating a motor vehicle without security and driving while license suspened/allowing a suspended person to operate. A pretrial was scheduled for September 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. Bond of $3,500, ten percent was continued.
  •  Sarah Lee Turner,65, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle without security. The victim was sentenced to fines and costs of $375.

The following actions were taken by the Department of Natural Resources during the month of July, 2013:

  •  Jeffrey Stuart Bartlett, of Midland, pleaded no contest to unattended lines. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $250.
  •  Tonia Eleanor Farrington of Howe, IN pleaded guilty to a charge of carrying a passenger on an ORV not equipped for passengers. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $215.
  •  Jeffrey Charles Wierengo, of Muskgon, had a default judgment issued for operating an ORV without helmut or eye protection. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $110.
  •  Wade Chandler Martin, of Hinsdale, IL, had a default judgment issued of a charge of failure to display boat registration or PWC. the defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $215.
  •  Paul Frederick Koning, of Holland, pleaded responsible for failure to display boat registration or PWC. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of$195.
  •  Thomas Scott Sheldon, of Delton, admitted responsibility allowing a minor under the age of 16 to operate unsupervised. The defendant was snetenced to fines and costs of $200.
