Trial Court for 3-3-2011

The following actions were taken in Lake County trial court for the week ending Thursday, March 3, 2011:

•Ricky Allen Carter, 51, of Adrian, was arraigned on a charge of second-degree home invasion. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 17 at 2 p.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.

•Wayne Thomas Tompkins, 47, of Rockford, pleaded guilty to charges of larceny ($1,000 — $20,000) and of trespassing upon a key facility. A charge of being an habitual offender (third offense) was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $898 and to serve nine months (182 days CTS).

•David James Dorris, 34, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to register as a sex offender. A charge of being an habitual offender (third offense) was dismissed. Sentencing was scheduled for Mar. 22 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was continued; the defendant was lodged.

•David Richard Smith, 30, of Baldwin, pleaded not guilty to a charge of domestic violence. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 3 at 9 a.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.

•Bryan William Smith, 30, of Montrose, was arraigned on charges of delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana) and of fourth-degree fleeing and eluding. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 3 at 11 a.m. Bond was continued at $100,000; the defendant was lodged.

•Nicholas Wayne Bartlett, 29, of Luther, pleaded not guilty to a charge of operating a motor vehicle without security. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 3 at 9 a.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.

•Nathan Joe Simpson, 52, of Branch, pleaded not guilty to charges of domestic violence and assault and battery. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 3 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.

•Tracey Gene Roberts, 56, of Baldwin, pleaded not guilty to a charge of a motor vehicle code violation/no dealer’s license. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 3 at 10 a.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.

•Steven Henry Crawford, 57, of Wayland, was arraigned on a charge of delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana). Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 3 at 11 a.m. Bond was continued at $25,000. The defendant was lodged.

•Edward Alan Bergenham, 71, of Lawton, was arraigned on a charge of delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana). Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 3 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on bond.
