Trial Court - 5-5-2011

The following actions were taken in Lake County trial court for the week ending Thursday, Apr. 28, 2011:

• David James Dorris, 34, of Baldwin, had a charge of failing to comply with sex offender report duties dismissed.

• Jerud Edward Baker, 33, of Irons, was arraigned on a charge of disorderly person/drunk. Pretrial was scheduled for May 19 at 9 a.m. Bond was set at $2,500. The defendant was currently lodged.

• James McNary, 38, of Bitely, pleaded not guilty to a charge of non-sufficient funds less than $100. Pretrial was scheduled for May 5 at 2 p.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.

• Anthony Buchanan, 45, of Baldwin, pleaded not guilty to a charge of embezzlement under $200 by an agent or trustee. A non-jury trial was scheduled for June 3 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $2,500 bond.

• Thomas Ramon James Neuman, 22, of Custer, pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking and entering/illegal entry without the owner’s permission. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $250 and to serve 90 days at the discretion of the court within one year.

• Christina Lynn Kunna, 25, of Grand Rapids, pleaded guilty to a charge of larceny $200 — $1,000. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $350 and to serve one year at the discretion of the court within one year.

• Patricia Thelma Lehnen, 43, of Idlewild, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate (second or subsequent offense). A charge of altering/forging or falsifying a license plate was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to serve 90 days; 30 days now (nine days CTS).

• Richard Lee Buckhout Jr., 20, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly person/drunk. A charge of alcohol purchase/consumption or possession by a minor was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $250 and to serve 90 days at the discretion of the court within one year.

• Shawn Austin Root, 21, of Chase, was arraigned on a charge of domestic violence. A plea hearing was scheduled for May 2 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $3,500. The defendant was currently lodged.

• Joshua James Braun, 23, of Kaleva, was arraigned on charges of fourth-degree fleeing and eluding, driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate (second or subsequent offense), reckless driving, and operating an ORV on a roadway. Preliminary examination was scheduled for May 3 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $10,000 bond.

• Ricky Allen Carter, 51, of Adrian, pleaded guilty to charges of second-degree home invasion and of being an habitual offender (second offense). A charges of being an habitual offender (fourth offense) was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $198, restitution of $1,015, and to serve four to 22.6 years (349 days CTS) concurrent with a previous Newaygo County sentence.
