Trial Court

The following actions were taken in Lake County Trial Court the week of June 2, 2015:

  • David Gerald Bak, 44, of Hudsonville, pleaded guilty to operating an ORV while operator's rights were suspended. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $285
  • David Forrest Barton, 31, of Chase, was bound over to Circuit Court on a charge of delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance/marijuana. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Travis D. Burzynski, 31, of Branch, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance/marijuana. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.,m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015. Bond of $3,500, ten percent was posted.
  • Phillip Eugene Christian, 33, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charges of operating a motor vehicle without security and driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate. A pretrial was scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 4, 2015. A surety bond of $2,500 was posted.
  • Dustin Lee Clemens, 26, of Baldwin, was bound over to Circuit Court on charges of operating intoxicated- third degree, fleeing and eluding- fourth degree and driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second/subsequent. Bond of $75,000, ten percent was continued.
  • Troy Lynn Cleveland, 44, of Portage, was arraigned on charges of operating while intoxicated/impaired/in the presence of a controlled substance- second degree and driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate. A pretrial was scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 4, 2015. Bond of $7,500, ten percent was posted with a condition of no alcohol.
  • Misti Lee Cole, 38, of Luther, was arraigned on a charge of disorderly person- jostling. A pretrial is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Martin Troy Geldersma, 49, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on June 4, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Julie Rose Gilman, 36, of Fountain, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance- marijuana. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Bond of $3,500, ten percent was continued.
  • Kinicha Renee Hawkins, 23, of Detroit, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second/subsequent. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375 and one year if jail at the discretion of the court over the next year.
  • Jarod Noriss Hoffman. 35, of Kingsley, was arraigned on charge of possession of a controlled substance- less than 25 grams. A preliminary examination is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Bond was set at $10,000, ten percent.
  • Charles Edwin Howe, 63, of Benton Harbor, pleaded no contest to a charge of possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle/passenger and an added charge of operating under the influence of liquor. The defendant was sentenced to one year in jail, to serve 90 days now with credit for time served of 64 days and to have no use of alcohol. A charge of operating intoxicated- third degree was dismissed.
  • Cabrina Lynn Hull, 42, of Irons, was arraigned on a charge of assault/assault and battery. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015. The defendant was free and personal recognizance bond.
  • Thomas Michael Kaja, 55, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charges of operating a motor vehicle without security, violations of license restrictions and driving an unregistered vehicle/no trailer plate. A pretrial was scheduled for 10 a.m. on June 4, 2015. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Bruce Kelly Little, 34, of Irons, pleaded no contest in Circuit Court to a charge of resisting and obstructing a police officer. Sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Charges of delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance/marijuana and possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle/passenger were dismissed.
  • Kevin Quincy McKinney, 35, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate. A pretrial was scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 4, 2015. Bond of $3,500, ten percent was continued.
  • Gary Lee Rehmel, 41, of Buchanan, was arraigned on charges of operating while intoxicated and possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle/passenger. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015. Bond of $5,000, ten percent was posted.
  • Larry Frank Rickman, 53, of Carleton, pleaded guilty to charges of ORV- operating while license suspended/revoked and operating an ORV on State land/damaging crops. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the first count, and fines and costs of $200 and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the second count..
  • Crystal Marie Rothig, 29, of Luther, was arraigned on a charge of disorderly person- jostling. A pretrial is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Melissa Ann Schero, 48, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of trespass. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Jerome Bernard Smith, 44, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of operating while intoxicated. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Bond of $3,500, ten percent was posted.
  • Rayna Katherine Spicer, 38, of Fountain, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance- marijuana. A pretrial is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015. Bond of $3,500, ten percent was posted.
  • Stephanie Lynn Wheeler, 23, of Grand Rapids, was arraigned on a charge of distributing obscene matter to children. A preliminary examination is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond with a condition of no contact with the victim or the co-defendant.
