Trial Court

The following action was taken in  Lake County Trial Court the week ending June 27, 2014:

  •  Eddie Wayne Abbott Jr., 38, of Idlewild, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering-a building with intent. The defendant was sentenced to 60 days in jail, to serve 30 now with credit for time served of 8 days, 18 months probation, fines and costs of  $668, crime victims restitution of $130 and restitution of $317.00 and $2,370.62.
  •  Fannie Mae Dockery, 60, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to retail fraud-third degree. The defendant was sentenced to pay victim's restitution of $8.00, To serve 93 days in jail, to serve three now and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year and no entry to EZ Mart for one year.
  •  Jamie Kay Earl, 22, of Big Rapids, pleaded guilty to an added charge of use of a controlled substance-marijuana. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275, 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year, license suspended for six months with a restricted license after 30 days.
  •  Aaron Lynnsey Elder, 31, of Goodspring, TN, pleaded guilty to a charge of fugitive from justice. The defendant waived extradition.
  •  Casey James Hefferan, 22, of Rockford, pleaded guilty to an added charge of medical marijuana-improper transport in a vehicle. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275. and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana was dismissed.
  •  Joshua William Helgren, 22, of Westland, pleaded guilty to criminal contempt of court. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months probation, 30 days in jail, with credit for time served of 31 days, fines and costs of $668, crime victims restitution of $130  and $240 supervision fee.
  •  Carl Brent Heyd, 31, of Tustin, was arraigned on charges of operating under the influence of liquor-ORV and reckless driving. A pretrial was scheduled for July 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  •  Fredric Kevin Hilder, 58, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to interfering with electronic communications and domestic violence/second offense. The defendant was sentenced to 18 months probation, six months jail with credit for time served of 39 days and the balance at the discretion of the court, fines and costs of $668, crime victims restitution of $130, and a supervision fee of $480. A condition of no contact with the victim is continued.
  •  Thomas Earl Horger, 32, of White Cloud pleaded guilty to an added charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijauna. The defendant was sentenced to one year in jail, to serve 90 now, with credit for time served of 42 days and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year, LC one year, with a restricted license after 60 days. A charge of controlled substance-second offense was dismissed..
  •  Markisha Denise Jones, 26, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to a charge of disorderly person-jostling. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year and a condition of no contact with the victim..
  •  Stephen Uel Metcalfe, 53, of Kalamazoo, was arraigned on a charge of disorderly person-drunk. A pretrial was scheduled for July 3, 2014 at 9 a.m. Bond was set at $2,500, ten percent.
  •  Shanice Lashell Raspberry, 21, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly person-jostling. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275, 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year and a condition of no contact with the victim.
  •  Ruth Ravit, 47, of Idlewild, pleaded guilty to a charge of truancy. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $150, 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year and a condition that the child must attend school.
  •  Sarah Mae Salinas, 33, of Hesperia, pleaded guilty to charges of operating a motor vehicle without security, improper plates, and an added charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate. The defendant was sentenced to one year in jail, to serve 12 days now with credit for time served on charges 1 and 2 and 93 days in jail, to serve 12 days now with credit for time served and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year on the added charge. A charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second/subsequent was dismissed.
  •  Keshia Darlean Salisbury, 20, of Tustin, was arraigned on charges of domestic violence and breaking and entering-illegal entry without owners permission. A pretrial is scheduled for July 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  •  Gordon Dean Stephan, 48, of Chase, pleaded no contest to an added charge of possession of a controlled substance-non-narcotic-attempted. The defendant was sentenced to one year in jail, to serve 30 days now, concurrent. Charges of possession of a controlled substance-non-narcotic, driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate and improper plates were dismissed.
  •  Debbie Sue Stiller, 59, of Ludington, was arraigned on charges of possession of a controlled substance-non-narcotic and operating while intoxicated/impaired/in the presence of a controlled substance-second. A preliminary examination was scheduled for July 8, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. A surety bond of $7,500 was posted.
  •  Ronald Joseph Suchomski, 38, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana. A pretrial was scheduled for July 3, 2014 at 9 a.m. A surety bond was posted.
  •  Darrin Christopher Thomas, 37, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of operating a motor vehicle without security and an added charge of allowing a person to drive in violation of the motor vehicle code. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375 and one year in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the first charge and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the added charge. Charges of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate and driving an unregistered vehicle/no trailer plate were dismissed.
  •  Charles William Vahle, 41, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to an added charge of use of a controlled substance-marijuana. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275, 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year, LC six months, restricted license after 30 days. A charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana was dismissed.
  •  Scott Joshua Williams, 24, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of larceny-less than $200. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 93 days in jail, to serve three now with credit for time served., and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year.
  •  Scott Joshua Williams, 24, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of operating a motor vehicle without security. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375.
  •  Eric John Woods, 30, of Idlewild, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering without breaking w/intent. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months probation, nine months jail with authorized work release, fines and costs of $668, crime victims restitution of $130 and a supervision fee of $480.
