Trial Court

The following actions were taken in Lake County Trial Court the week ending August 8, 2013:

  •  Michael Ryan Albaugh, 24, of Fountain, pleaded guilty to criminal contempt of court. The defendant was sentenced to 15 days in jail. A charge of larceny-less than $200. was dismissed.
  •  James Robert Braunschneider, 28, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana. A pretrial was scheduled for August 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  •  Martin VanBuren Brown Jr., 55, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to a charge of domestic violence. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 93 days in jail, to serve 6 now and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year. The no contact with the victim was continued. A charge of using computers to commit a crine was dismissed.
  •  Martin VanBuren Brown Jr., 55, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second subsequent offense was dismissed.
  •  Christian Robert Chapman, 26, of Tustin, was arraigned and pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly person-drunk. The defendant was sentenced to 30 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year.
  •  Michael Clayton Corbett, 36, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to an added charge of attempted assault/resisting /obstructing a police officer. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375 and one year in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of assault/resisting/obstructing a police officer was dismissed.
  •  Donald Alan Cornell, 66, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without security. A pretrial was scheduled for August 22, 2013 at 10 a.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  •  Rhonda Kay Dann, 53, of Leslie, was arraigned on a charge of non-sufficient funds less than $100. A pretrial was scheduled for August 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. Bond of $5,000, ten percent was posted.
  •  Jewreka Nashawn Davis, 34, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to an added charge of larceny-$200-$1,000. The defendant was sentenced to one year in jail, 22 days now, with the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year and $399 in victims restitution.
  •  Marvetta Diona Dockery, 42, of Idlewild, was arraigned on two charges of retail fraud-third degree. A pretrial was scheduled for August 22, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Surety bond of $2,500 was posted.
  •  James Leigh Ferrier Jr., 20, of Baldwin, was bound over to Circuit Court on a charge of larceny $1,000 or more-less than $20,000. Bond was set at $7,500, ten percent with a condition of no contact with the victim.
  •  Kenneth Lee Hamilton, 23, of Fountain, pleaded no contest to an added charge of larceny-less than $200. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $350, victims restitution of $1,315 and one year in jail, to serve 15 days now, with credit for time served, and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of larceny $1,000 or more-less than $20,000 was dismissed.
  •  Davon Isiah Hawkins, 20, had a charge of assault/assault & battery dismissed.
  •  Lethaniel M. King III, 49,of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana. A criminal plea was scheduled for August 12, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $5,000, ten percent.
  •  Cora Jean Libby, 44, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance/marijuana. A preliminary examination was scheduled for August 20, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant was free on a personal recognizance bond.
  •  Gary Dean MacCune, 22, of Branch, pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking & entering-a building with intent. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $668, crime victims restitution of $130, 12 months in jail, 100 days now, with credit for time served and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year, 24 months probation and a probation fee of $480. A charge of possession of burglars tools was dismissed.
  •  Tamond Jamall Meeks, 20, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of trespass. The defendant was sentenced to 30 days in jail. A charge of purchase/consumption/possession of alcohol by a minor was dismissed.
  •  Michelle Lynn Miller, 19, of Grand Rapids, was bound over to Circuit Court on a charge of unlawful driving away of an automobile. Bond was set at $5,000, ten percent.
  •  Richard Austen Minga, 20, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to an added charge of use of a controlled substance-marijuana. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275, 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year and license suspended for six months with a restricted license after 30 days. A charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana was dismissed.
  •  Jessica Marie Schero of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to an added charge of no proof of insurance. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $155. A charge of operating a motor vehicle without security was dismissed.
  •  Renee Ann Sutton, 48, of Shelby, was arraigned on charges of reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of a property damage accident. A pretrial was scheduled for August 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  •  Justin Michael Thompson, 21, was arraigned and bound over to Circuit Court on charges of home invasion-first degree, assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm under the influence, reckless use of weapons-firearms and malicious destruction of personal property less than $200. Bond was set at $50,000, ten percent with a condition of no contact with the victim, no entry at the victim’s residence and no alcohol. A preliminary examination was scheduled for August 13, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.
  •  Mark Thomas Tilton, 18, of Grand Rapids, was bound over to Circuit Court on charges of unlawful driving away of an automobile, fleeing & eluding-fourth degree and driving while license expired. Bond was set at $15,000, ten percent.
  •  Debra Kay Wible, 56, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of obstructing a police officer-disguise. A pretrial was scheduled for August 5, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $5,000, ten percent.
  •  Jon David Wassenaar, 27, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of retail fraud-third degree. A pretrial was scheduled for August 22, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. Bond of $2,500, ten percent was posted.
  •  Carl Allen Young, 45, of Baldwin, was arraigned and bound over to Circuit Court on a charge of altering/forging/falsifying license plate. Bond was set at $5,000, ten percent.
  •  Christopher Allen Zweigle, 39, of Branch, was arraigned on charges of domestic violence and attempted assault/resisting/obstructing a police officer. A pretrial was scheduled for August 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Bond was continued with the condition of no contact
