Trial Court

The following actions were taken in Lake County Trial Court the week ending June 6, 2014:

  •  Howard James Perry III, 25, of Hart, pleaded guilty to charges of operating a motor vehicle without security and driving while license expired. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375 and one year in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the first charge and fines and costs of $275 on the second charge.
  •  Jacquelene Ann Rappuhn, 44, of Irons, pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful use of a motor vehicle/joyriding. The defendant was sentenced to 12 months probation, 30 days in jail with credit for time served of 3 days and the balance at the discretion of the court, fines and costs of $668, crime victim’s restitution of $130 and a supervision fee of $120. A charge of unlawful driving away of an auto was dismissed.
  •  Brady Allen Rousch, 40, of Irons, pleaded guilty to an added charge of disorderly person. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of assault/assault and battery was dismissed.
  •  Gordon Dean Stephan, 48, of Chase, pleaded no contest to an added charge of attempted possession of a controlled substance, non narcotic. Sentencing was scheduled for June 17, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Charges of possession on a controlled substance, non narcotic, driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second subsequent and improper plates were dismissed.
  •  Tracy Allan Stutzman, 47, of Ludlow, IL, was bound over to Circuit Court on two charges of criminal sexual conduct, first degree (person under 13, defendant 17/older). The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  •  Penny Sue Thayer, 62, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to an added charge of no proof of insurance. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $150. A charge of operating a motor vehicle without security was dismissed.
  •  Ryan Michael Tomlin, 27, of Manistee, was arraigned on a charge of larceny in a building. A preliminary examination was scheduled for June 10, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $5,000, ten percent.
  •  Kwame Shaquelle VerHulst, 20, of Muskegon, was arraigned in Circuit Court on charges of home invasion-first degree, domestic violence, assault/assault and battery, malicious destruction of personal property less than $200 and habitual offender/second offense notice. A pretrial was scheduled for June 12, 2014. Bond was set at $15,000, ten percent with a condition of no contact with the victims.
  •  Pierce Harrison Webb, 30, of Grand Rapids, pleaded guilty to a charge of controlled substance-second or subsequent. The defendant was sentenced to 12 months probation, six months jail, to serve four weekends beginning June 6, 2014, drivers license suspended one year, 60 days hard, fines and costs of $668, crime victims restitution of $130 and a supervision fee of $240 and no contact with the victim. Charges of resisting and obstructing a police officer and habitual offender/second offense notice were dismissed.
  •  Harold James Wilson, 66, of Rochester Hills, pleaded guilty to a charge of failure to report an accident. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year.
  •  Eric John Woods, 30, of Idlewild, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering without breaking with intent. Sentencing was scheduled for June 24, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
  • The following actions were taken in Lake County Trial Court the week ending June 11, 2014:
  •  Andres Alonzo, 22, of Detroit, pleaded no contest to a charge of assault/assault and battery. The defendant was sentenced to 22 days in jail with credit for time served.
  •  George Samuel Barker Jr., 21, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to an added charge of weapons-possession of a mechanical knife. The defendant was sentenced to one year in jail at the discretion of the court. Charges of carrying a concealed weapon and operating a motor vehicle without security were dismissed.
  •  George Samuel Barker Jr., 21, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to a charge of larceny-less than $200. The defendant was sentenced to 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year and fines and costs of $275.
  •  John Stephan Bozek, 69, of Rodney, pleaded no contest to a charge of larceny-less than $200. The defendant was sentenced to 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year, no gov. LOD for one year and $22.85 restitution. A charge of disorderly person-drunk was dismissed.
  •  Dustin Christopher Coffman, 29, of Reed City, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault/assault and battery. A sentencing date was set for June 16, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  •  Cory Michael Cox, 21, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to a charge of retail fraud-third degree. The defendant was sentenced to 93 days in jail, to serve 30 days now with credit for time served of 2 days, to begin serving the 30 days on June 4, 2014 with the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year, victims restitution of $95.92, and a condition not to enter Wesco or E-Z Mart.
  •  Cory Michael Cox, 21, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to a charge of retail fraud-third degree. The defendant was sentenced to 93 days in jail, to serve 30 days now with credit for time served of 2 days, to begin serving the 30 days on June 4, 2014, and victim’s restitution of $20.00 and a condition not to enter Wesco.
  •  Tarry William Erb, 56, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to an added charge of operating while intoxicated. The defendant was sentenced to 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year, and fines and costs of $1,180. A charge of operating with a high blood alcohol content was dismissed.
  •  Deanna Michele Forney, 46, of Detroit was bound over to Circuit Court on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, malicious destruction of personal property less than $200 and habitual offender/second offense notice.
  •  William James Franklin, 75, of Chase, was arraigned on charges of malicious destruction-trees/shrubs/crops/grass/under $200 and trespass. A pretrial was scheduled for June 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  •  Dominique LaQuan Gadlen, 25, of Lansing, pleaded no contest to a charge of  assault with a dangerous weapon. The defendant was sentenced to one year and one day to four years in jail and fines and costs of $198.
  •  Dwayne Gene Gardner, 31, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to an added charge of attempted child abuse-third degree. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375 and one year in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year with a condition of no contact. A charge of child abuse-third degree was dismissed.
  •  Monroe Grimes Jr., 45, of Saginaw, was sentenced to 12 months probation, drivers license suspended one year, 60 hard, and 12 months in jail, 90 days now with credit for time served of 76 days on a charge of delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance less than 50 grams. Charges of maintaining a drug house and possession of a controlled substance-marijuana were dismissed.
  •  Brittany Lynn Jemison, 21, of Ludington, was bound over to Circuit Court on a charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and an added charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 25 grams. A charge of jails-furnishing contraband to prisoners was dismissed. Bond of $7,500, ten percent was continued.
  •  Pierre Roy Johnson, 24, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to an added count of possession of a controlled substance-non narcotic. A sentencing date was scheduled for July 8, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. A charge of delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance-marijuana was dismissed. Bond was continued.
  •  Markisha Denise Jones, 26, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of disorderly person-jostling. A pretrial was scheduled for June 26, 2014 at 9 a.m. Bond of $2,500, ten percent was posted.
  •  George Allen Rank, 82, of Rapid River, was arraigned on a charge of operating while intoxicated. A pretrial was scheduled for June 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. Bond of $5,000, ten percent was posted.
  •  Shanice LaShell Raspberry, 21, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of disorderly person-jostling. A pretrial was scheduled for June 26, 2014 at 2 p.m. Bond of $2,500, ten percent was posted.
  •  Ruth Ravit, 47, of Idlewild, was arraigned on a charge of truancy. A pretrial was scheduled for June 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  •  Paul William Rosenogle, 19, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to a charge of fleeing and eluding-fourth degree. Sentencing was scheduled for July 8, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
  •  Bond was continued. A charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second/subsequent offense was dismissed.
  •  Gregory Allen Schroll, 19, of Battle Creek, was arraigned on a charge of breaking and entering-a building with intent. A preliminary examination was scheduled for June 24, 2014 at 2 p.m. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  •  Angela Marie Swix, 37, of Chase, was arraigned on a charge of domestic violence. A pretrial was scheduled for June 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. Bond was set at $1,500, ten percent.
  •  Jalen Kane Thomas, 19, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second subsequent offense. A pretrial was scheduled for June 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. Bond was set at $3,500, ten percent.
  •  Ryan Michael Tomlin, 27, of Manistee, was arraigned in Citcuit Court on a charge of larceny in a building. A pretrial was scheduled for June 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. Bond was continued.
  •  Shanice Shanell Tucker, 23, of Idlewild pleaded guilty to charges of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate and operating a motor vehicle without security. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375 and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the first charge and one year in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the second charge. A charge of improper plates was dismissed.
  •  Charlie James Washington, 50, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to probation violation. Sentencing was scheduled for June 10, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
