Trial Court

The following action were taken in Lake County Trial Court the week ending April 21, 2015:

  • Jirome Joshua Barnard, 18, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest in Circuit Court to an added charge of attempted criminal sexual conduct-third degree-person 13 to 15. The  defendant was sentenced to two years, one month to 5 years with the Michigan Department of Corrections with credit for time served of 86 days, fines and costs of $68 and crime victims restitution of $130. Two charges of criminal sexual conduct-third degree-person 13 to 15 were dismissed.
  • Zakrey Blue, 55, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to a charge of domestic violence. The defendant was sentenced to 93 days in jail, to serve 16 days now, with credit for time served and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year. The bond condition of no contact w/victim was continued.
  • Phillip Eugene Christian, 32. of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of improper plates and an added charge of no proof of insurance. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the first charge and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the added charge. A charge of operating a motor vehicle without security was dismissed.
  • Pierre Donquez Earl, 34, of Flint, pleaded guilty in Circuit Court to a charge of larceny by conversion, $1,000 but less than $20,000. The defendant was sentenced to nine months in jail with credit for time served of 40 days, fines and costs of $668, crime victims restitution of $130 and restitution of $1,230. A charge of habitual offender-fourth offense notice was dismissed.
  • Brandon Lamar Floyd, 30, of Grand Rapids, was arraigned on a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second/subsequent. A pretrial was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 5, 2015. Bond was continued.
  • Michael Simon Haddad, 27, of Idlewild, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana. The defendant was sentenced to one year in jail, to serve 10 days now, with credit for time served and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year, license suspended for six months, with a restricted license after 30 days.
  • David Melvin Kloss, 36, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second/subsequent. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $315, one year in jail, to serve ten days now with the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year. Jail time to be concurrent with Newaygo County.
  • Rocco Steven Levanseler, 21, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to larceny-less than $200. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year.
  • Todd William Maguire, 39, of Reed City, had a charge of domestic violence dismissed.
  • Dwight Alan Mason, 38, of Baldwin, was arraigned in Circuit Court on a charge of child abuse-third degree. A pretrial was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 5, 2015. Bond was continued.
  • Nyki Lavon Nelson, 28, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of false report of a misdemeanor. A pretrial was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 7, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Terrence Patrick O'Toole, 53, of Muskegon, pleaded guilty to an added charge of operating a snowmobile while license suspended. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $250. A charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate was dismissed.
  • Brian John Rasmussen, 49, of Luther, pleaded guilty to a charge of snowmobile, operating under the influence/per se. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $500, 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year, and snowmobile operators license suspended for one year. A charge of operating a snowmobile without a helmet was dismissed.
  • Michael Todd Ringler, 52, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without security. A pretrial was scheduled for 9 a.m. on May 7, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Kevin Raphael Robertson, 22, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance-non narcotic. A preliminary examination was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 5, 2015. Bond of $2,500, ten percent was posted.
  • Dallas Trent Roper, 22, of Big Rapids, was arraigned in Circuit Court on a charge of home invasion-third degree. A pretrial was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 7, 2015. Bond was continued.
  • James David Sisson, 28, pleaded no contest to a charge of disturbing the peace. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year.
  • Austina Rochelle South, 41, of Idlewild, pleaded guilty to a charge of disturbing the peace. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. Jail term may be withdrawn if there is no trouble for the next six months.
  • Warren Allen Thomas Jr., 38, of Grand Rapids, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second/subsequent was dismissed.
  • William Rodney Tillen, 49, of Bay City, pleaded guilty to an added charge of operating impaired. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $1,150 and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. Charges of operating with a high blood alcohol content and possession of alcohol in a motor vehicle/passenger were dismissed.
  • Brenda Joyce Ward, 69, of Baldwin, was found guilty by non jury trial of assault/assault and battery. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 93 days in jail, to serve three days now with credit for time served and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year. The bond condition of no contact with the victim or the victim's residence is continued.
  • Mathew Tristan Wright, 27, of Baldwin, had a charge of operating a motor vehicle without security dismissed.
