Trial Court

The following actions were taken in Lake County Trial Court the week ending July 15, 2013.

  •  Michael Andre Dukes, 42, of Idlewild, was bound over to Circuit Court on a charge of criminal sexual conduct-second multiple variables.
  • Brian Gregory Hyatt, 23, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of no proof of insurance. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $150. Charges of operating a motor vehicle without security and improper plates were dismissed.
  • Gary Dean MacCune, 22, of Branch had a charge of larceny-less than $200 dismissed.
  • Tamond Jamall Meeks, 19, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to probation violation. A probation violation hearing was scheduled for July 23, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.
  • Kimberleigh Michelle Pree, 25, of Tustin, pleaded guilty to an added charge of disturbing the peace. The defendant was sentenced to $275 fines and costs and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. An additional condition is no contact with the victim except for parenting time. A charge of assault/assault and battery was dismissed
  • Santana Lynn Stone, 27, of Bitely, pleaded guilty to charges of retail fraud-third degree and driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the first charge and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year on the second charge. A charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate-second subsequent offense was dismissed.

The following actions were taken in Lake County Trial Court the week ending July 16, 2013.

  • Michael Ryan Albaugh, 24, of Fountain pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal contempt of court. The defendant was sentenced to 15 days in jail.
  • Ryan Leith Bannister, 44, of Luther, was arraigned on a charge of sex offender-failure to comply with report duties. A preliminary examination was scheduled for July 25, 2013 at 9 a.m.
  • Daniel Nate Bowman, 25, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to receiving and concealing stolen property-less than $200. The defendant was sentenced to $275 in fines and costs and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year.
  • Richard Raymond Dagen, 48, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to criminal sexual conduct, fourth degree-victim between 13-16. Sentencing date was scheduled for August 12, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. A charge of computer/internet/ communication w/another to commit a crime was dismissed. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Erica Dannetti Darknell, 32, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to an added charge of operating while impaired. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $1100. and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of operating with the presence of a controlled substance was dismissed.
  • Monigve Javon Fikes, 52, of East Point, pleaded guilty to an added charge of driving while license was expired. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $225. A charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate-second subsequent offense was dismissed.
  • Brian Mishawn Flowers, 35, of Idlewild had a charge of domestic violence dis missed.
  • Michael James Geigle, 39, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance-marijuana. The defendant was sentenced to 12 months in jail, two days now, with credit for time served, 24 months probation, $668 fines and costs, $130 crime victims restitution and $600 supervision fee.
  • Stacey Lynn Gillespie, 29, of Fountain, pleaded guilty to an added charge of operating while intoxicated. The defendant was sentenced to 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year, to serve 10 days now or have in-house rehab. A charge of operating while intoxicated/impaired/in presence of controlled substance was dismissed.
  • David Alan Hale Jr., 35, of Sturgis, pleaded guilty to an added charge of disturbing the peace. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $150 and 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of attempted assault/resisting/obstructing a police officer was dismissed.
  • Charles Edwin Howe, 61, of Benton Harbor, was arraigned on a charge of operating while intoxicated. A criminal plea was scheduled for July 29, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Mark Jerome Johnson, 57, of Idlewild pleaded guilty to receiving and concealing stolen property/$200-$1,000. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375 and victim’s restitution of $50, one year in jail, to serve 10 days now, with credit for time served of four days. Charges of driving while license expired, improper plates, and operating a motor vehicle without security were dismissed.
  • Daniel Mark Jones, 51, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle without security. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375, and one year in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of improper plates was dismissed.
  • Stephen Uel Metcalfe, 52, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of larceny from a person. Sentencing was scheduled for October 8, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.
  • Brian Rex Morrissey, 40, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of operating or maintaining a controlled substance lab/methamphetamine. Sentencing was scheduled for August 12, 2013. A charge of possession of a controlled substance/methamphetamine/Ecstacy.
  • Shawn Austin Root, 23, of Paris, pleaded no contest to an added charge of domestic violence. The defendant was sentenced to 93 days in jail, to serve 38 now, with credit for time served and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year. A condition of no contact with the victim was continued. A charge of domestic violence/second offense was dismissed.
  • Cain Eugene Smith, 33, of Mount Pleasant, was found in contempt of court-criminal. A pretrial was scheduled for July 25, 2013 at 9 a.m.
  • Darrin Christopher Thomas, 46, of Baldwin, had a charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana dismissed.
  • Kevin Lamont Whitfield, 44, of Idlewild, pleaded guilty to an added charge of trespass and receiving and concealing stolen property-less than $200. The defendant was sentenced to 30 days in jail, with credit for time served and 93 days in jail, to serve 30 days now, with credit for time served and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year with a condition not to enter the store for the next year.
  • David Joe Williams Jr., 33, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to an added charge of operating impaired. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $1,130 and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. Charges of operating while intoxicated and driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate were dismissed.
