The following actions were taken in Lake County Trial Court the week ending April 7, 2015:

  • Zakrey Blue, 55, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of domestic violence. A pretrial was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on April 16, 2015. Bond was set at $3,500, 10 percent with a condition of no contact with the victim.
  • Fred Arthur Christmas, 56, of Scottville, pleaded guilty in Circuit Court to a charge of firearms-possession by a felon. Sentencing was scheduled for 2 p.m. on April 27, 2015. Charges of possession of a controlled substance- less than 25 grams and domestic violence were dismissed. Bond was continued.
  • Bronson Lee Draper, 31, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of criminal sexual conduct-first degree (person under 13-def. 17/older). A preliminary examination was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on April 21, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Edward Lamarr Hanson, 34, of Idlewild, was arraigned on charges of indecent exposure and disorderly person-drunk. A pretrial was scheduled for 9 a.m. on April 16, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond with a condition of no alcohol.
  • Kimberly Jill Knight, 51, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to embezzlement-agent/trustee-under $200. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275, 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year and no entrance to Copeland E-Z Mart for one year.
  • Randy Scott Libey, 48, of Chase, pleaded guilty to driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to/ operate/second/subsequent. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375. A charge of operating a motor vehicle without security was dismissed.
  • Christena Nichole Michels, 31, of Big Rapids, pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle without security. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375, six months to pay, and one year in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year.
  • Michele Marie Saunders, 36, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of disturbing the peace. A pretrial was scheduled for 11 a.m. on April 16, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Austina Rochelle South, 41, of Idlewild, was arraigned on a charge of disturbing the peace. A pretrial was scheduled for 11 a.m. on April 16, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Darrin Christopher Thomas, 38, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana. A pretrial was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on May 5, 2015. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Steve Everette Troupe, 45, of Reed City, pleaded no contest to a charge of assault/assault and battery. The defendant was sentenced to 93 days in jail, to serve two now with credit for time served and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year.
