The following actions were taken in Lake County Trial Court the week ending Jan. 28, 2016:

  • Eddie Wayne Abbott Jr., 40, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to an added charge of attempted criminal sexual conduct, second degree - under 13, defendant 17 or older. Sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016. Bond of $50,000, cash or surety is set.
  • Codey Allen Ashbrook, 20, of Idlewild, pleaded guilty(no contest) to a charge of assault/assault and battery. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275, 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year and continue with CMH.
  • Jan James Atkinson, 61, of Idlewild, was arraigned on a charge of domestic violence. A pretrial is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016. Bond of $5,000, ten percent with a condition of no contact, was posted.
  • Brandie Frances Bloom, 35, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of embezzlement AGT - $200 or more/less than $1,000. A pretrial is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Latasha Monique Boatwright, 34, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second/subsequent. A pretrial was scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016. Bond of $3,500, ten percent, was continued.
  • Erik Monroe Boyce, 21, of Chase, pleaded guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $1,235 and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year. A charge of operating with a high blood alcohol content was dismissed.
  • Carl Van Cooper, 47, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty in circuit court to a charge of prison-prisoner in possession of contraband. The defendant was sentenced to one year and one day to five years in jail and crime victim's restitution of $130. A second charge of prison - prisoner in possession of contraband was dismissed.
  • Deanna Darnell Gulledge, 55, of Idlewild, was arraigned in circuit court on a charge of delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance/marijuana. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016. Bond is continued.
  • Carl Lee Herring Sr., 48, of Baldwin, was arraigned in circuit court on two charges of uttering and publishing. A pretrial was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016. Bond was set at $10,000, ten percent.
  • Jody Collene Kelley, 44, of Clare, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $375, one year in jail, to serve three days now, with credit for time served and the balance at the discretion of the court over the next year, license suspended for six months and restricted after 30 days.
  • Robert Ellery Maddix, 35, of Chase, was arraigned on a charge of domestic violence. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016. Bond of $5,000, ten percent was posted with a condition of no contact with the victim.
  • Rose Alee Riker, 43, of Luther, was arraigned on charges of operating while intoxicated and no valid operators license in possession. A pretrial is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016. Bond of $3,500, ten percent, was posted.
  • Rodney Leroy Sadler, 44, of Idlewild, pleaded no contest to three counts of attempted sex offender - failure to comply with registration. The defendant was sentenced to one year in jail at the discretion of the court - all counties. Three charges of sex offenders - failure to register were dismissed.
  • David Michael Schroll, 24, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to third degree arson. Sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016. Bond is set at $7,500, surety.
  • Jeffrey Louis Shoemaker, 39, of Chase, was arraigned on charges of domestic violence - third offense, interfering with electronic communication, assault by strangulation and habitual offender - third offense notice. A probable cause conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016. Bond of $5,00, ten percent was posted.
  • James Edward Smyk, 64, of Houghton Lake, was arraigned on charges of gun in deer/elk season without license, and two charges of wildlife conservation - taking deer/bear/turkey. A pretrial is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Timothy James Snyder, 52, of Muskegon, pleaded guilty to a charge of wildlife conservation - taking deer/elk/turkey. Sentencing was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1 2016. The defendant was free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Sharon Ann Stevens, 69, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to operating while intoxicated. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $1,180 and 93 days in jail at the discretion of the court over the next year.
  • David Alan Stinson Jr., 37, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charges of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate/second/subsequent and unlawful use/display of operator's license. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday,  Feb. 4, 2016. Bond of $2,500, ten percent was posted.
  • Karl Lavern Wilkerson, 52, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to two counts of retail fraud - third degree. The defendant was sentenced to fines and costs of $275 and victims restitution of $96.41, 93 days in jail, to serve 10 now, and no Pattie Drug on the first count and fines and costs of $275 and victim's restitution of $194.99 and 93 days in jail, to serve 10 now, and no Pattie Drug on the second count.
  • Robert Michael Wilson, 37, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a count of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana. A pretrial is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016. Bond of $2,500, ten percent was posted.
  • James Cameron Woods, 65, of Chase, pleaded no contest in circuit court to a charge of aggravated indecent exposure. Sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016.
