LAKE COUNTY — With flu season around the corner, District Health Department No. 10 (DHD No.10) is helping area residents prepare by offering flu vaccines to children, adults and seniors.

Even healthy people can become seriously ill from the flu, officials said. To protect people against the flu, the medical community is encouraging them to get the annual flu vaccine.

Upcoming flu clinics are as scheduled:

• 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 12, at Luther Lions Club;

• 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Oct. 19, at Peacock Senior Center;

• and during open hours on Wednesday, Sept. 26, Thursday, Oct. 11 and Wednesday, Oct. 17, at DHD No. 10 in Baldwin. The flu clinic also is offered at DHD No. 10 in the morning only on Friday, Oct. 26.

Many health insurance plans cover flu vaccines, but if not, DHD No. 10 may be able to help through Vaccines for Children or other programs. DHD No. 10 will bill Medicare of other Medicare Health plans, Medicaid, Medicaid Health plans and other insurances with an insurance card present at the time of appointment.

Without insurance, the seasonal flu vaccination is $38, with high dose and preservative-free flu shots at $41.
