Take kids out to the ball game

Lake County 4-H gives youth the skills to create the building blocks of positive development in order to grow up to be healthy, caring and responsible. These skills empower youth to be leaders, share talents, skills and knowledge and create a better community.

Today, more than ever, our children need the nurturance, guidance and help that will make positive differences in their lives. Lake County 4-H offers a safe environment that helps youth of all ages create positive values, a positive identity, and become socially competent while promoting high

self-esteem.

One of the 4-H programs that nurtures youth is the summer 4-H baseball and softball program, which has been ongoing for over 20 years, reaching 70-120 youth every year.

Youth learn to work together, care for teammates, increase self-esteem, find a sense of purpose, attain achievement and learn good sportsmanship. The 4-H baseball/softball program creates family and community support by getting parents involved in what their children are doing. Being active in what children are doing helps give children the support they need to succeed and the perception that they are valued in the community.

In addition, the 4-H baseball/softball program gives youth an opportunity to constructively use their time during the summer.

Now is the time to get your daughter, son, or grandchild involved in 4-H baseball and softball program. There are four divisions for children and youth from the ages of 5 to 15.

These divisions are T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Boys and Girls Little League and Boys and Girls Pony. Sign-up now to participate! Sign up sheets are available at the MSU Extension, 915 Michigan Ave. or Baldwin Schools. If you have any questions give us a call at 745-2732.
