TRIAL COURT: 6-9-2011

The following actions were taken in Lake County trial court for the week ending Thursday, June 2, 2011:

• Edward Alan Bergenham, 71, of Lawton, pleaded guilty to a charge of delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $798 and to serve 100 hours community service work and 18 months’ probation. He will pay a supervision fee of $360; his driver’s license is suspended (restricted license after 30 days).

• Christian Michael Smith, 19, of Wellston, pleaded no contest to a charge of aggravated assault. A charge of assault with intent to do bodily harm was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $350 and to serve one year; 30 days now and the balance at the discretion of the court within one year.

• Brett Anthony Adams, 20, of Kaleva, pleaded no contest to a charge of aggravated assault. A charge of assault with intent to do bodily harm was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $350 and to serve one year; 30 days now and the balance at the discretion of the court within one year.

• Dustin Nathaniel Prenger, 19, of Kaleva, pleaded no contest to a charge of aggravated assault. A charge of assault with intent to do bodily harm was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $350 and to serve one year; 30 days now and the balance at the discretion of the court within one year.

• James Eugene Hesselink, 47, of Idlewild, pleaded guilty to a charge of having no proof of insurance. A charge of operating a motor vehicle without security was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $250 and to serve 90 days at the discretion of the court within one year.

• Jennifer Lynn Barnes, 39, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of forgery. Preliminary examination was scheduled for June 6 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.

• John Patrick Barron, 56, of Byron Center, was arraigned on a charge of OWI. Pretrial was scheduled for June 16 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.

• Jason Michael Stellini, 37, of Reed City, pleaded not guilty to a charge of OWI. Pretrial was scheduled for June 16 at 9 a.m. The defendant is free on $3,500 bond.

• Tyrell Steven Gilbert, 35, of Kalamazoo, pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate (second or subsequent offense). Pretrial was scheduled for July 7 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.

• Matthew Robert Taylor, 23, of Grand Rapids, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Pretrial was scheduled for June 16 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on $3,500 bond.

• Ritu Rani Choudhry, 20, of Ionia, was arraigned on charges of OWI and possession of a controlled substance. Pretrial was scheduled for June 16 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.

• David Louis Lee Sr., 55, of Baldwin, pleaded not guilty to charges of OWI/impaired or in the presence of a controlled substance and of alcohol possession in a motor vehicle. Pretrial was scheduled for June 16 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $3,500 bond.

• James John Mars, was arraigned on a charge of OWI. Pretrial was scheduled for July 7 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.

• John Carl Brunn, 49, of Baldwin, pleaded not guilty to a charge of OWI. Pretrial was scheduled for June 16 at 2 p.m. The defendant is free on $3,500 bond.

• Vern Joseph Eagle, 29, of Baldwin, pleaded not guilty to a charge of domestic violence. Pretrial was scheduled for June 16 at 11 a.m. Bond was continued at $5,000. The defendant was currently lodged.

• Martin Van Buren Brown Jr., 53, of Baldwin, pleaded not guilty to a charges of domestic violence, driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate, and operating a motor vehicle without security. Pretrial was scheduled for June 16 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.

• Joy Casey Hill, 55, of Baldwin, pleaded not guilty to a charge of larceny ($200 — $1,000). Pretrial was scheduled for June 16 at 2 p.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.

• Emmitt George Boxley, 45, of Idlewild, pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and battery and attempting to assault/resist or obstruct a police officer. Pretrial was scheduled for June 16 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $2,500. The defendant was currently lodged.
