TRIAL COURT: 5-19-2011

The following actions were taken in Lake County trial court for the week ending Thursday, May 5, 2011:

• Cory Michael Cox, 19, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of parole violation. The defendant pleaded guilty to the original violation (possession of a controlled substance – marijuana) and was sentenced to serve one year; five days now and the balance at the discretion of the court within one year. His driver’s license is suspended for one year; restricted license after six months.

• Joshua James Braun, 23, of Kaleva, was bound over to circuit court on charges of fourth degree fleeing and eluding, driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate (second or subsequent offense), reckless driving, and operating an ORV on a roadway. Bond was set at $10,000.

• Anna Marie Hawke, 37, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of use of a non-narcotic controlled substance. A charge of possession of a controlled substance – marijuana was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $350 and to serve one year at the discretion of the court within one year. The defendant’ drivers license was suspended for six months, with a restricted license after 30 days.

• Shawn Austin Root, 21, of Chase, pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic violence. The defendant was sentenced to serve 93 days; thirteen days now and the balance at the discretion of the court within one year.

• Frederick Donell Ezell, 53, of Wyoming pleaded guilty to disorderly person/drunk. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $250 and to serve 90 days; two days now and the balance at the discretion of the court within one year.

• Nathan David Thompson, 22, of Branch, was arraigned on charges of OWI and possession of cocaine less than 25 grams. Preliminary examination was scheduled for May 16 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.

• Dean Comrade McCallum, 31, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charges of second-degree home invasion, larceny less than $200, and of being an habitual offender (fourth offense). Preliminary examination was scheduled for May 16 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $3,500 bond.

• James Eugene Hesselink, 47, of Idlewild, was arraigned a on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without security. Pretrial was scheduled for May 19 at 2 p.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.

• Edward Alan Bergenham, 71, of Lawton,, pleaded guilty to a charge of delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana). Sentencing was scheduled for June 2 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on bond.

• Steven Henry Crawford, 57, of Wayland, pleaded guilty to a charge of delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana). Sentencing was scheduled for June 2 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on bond.

The following actions were taken in Lake County trial court for the week ending Thursday, May 12, 2011:

• Ronald David Stanton, 18, of Luther, had a charge of domestic violence dismissed.

• Troy David Stanton, 41, of Luther, had a charge of domestic violence dismissed.

• Gary Leeshawn Simmons, 39, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless driving. A charge of reckless driving was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $250.

• Dino Roberto Dasaro, 52, of Fountain, pleaded guilty to a charge of OWI/impaired or in the presence of a controlled substance (second or subsequent offense). A charge of OWI (third offense) was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $1,050 and to serve one year.

• Michael Edward Priest, 53, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of identity theft. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $798 and to serve 90 days; 43 days now (CTS) and the balance at the discretion of the court over a period of 18 months’ probation.

• Ken Vincent Tetzlaff, 41, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to charges of OWI (third offense) and of being n habitual offender (fourth offense). Sentencing was scheduled for June 7 at 1:30 p.m.

• Nathan David Thompson, 22, of Branch was bound over to circuit court on charges of OWI and possession of cocaine less than 25 grams.

• Tammy Kay Hanstine, 48, of Three Rivers, pleaded not guilty to a charge of operating an ORV while under the influence of liquor. Pretrial was scheduled for May 19 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.

• Robert Leslie Levalley, 39, of Howard City, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and of driving while his license was improper or not valid. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $755 and to serve one year at the discretion of the court within one year. His driver’s license is suspended; restricted after 30 days.

• Michael Allan Parker, 59, of Battle Creek, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana). The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $350 and to serve one year at the discretion of the court within one year. His driver’s license is suspended; restricted after 30 days.

• Ryan Eric Raymond, 19, of Tustin, was arraigned on a charge of domestic violence. Pretrial was scheduled for May 19 at 10 a.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.

• Randal Ray Adkins, 48, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charges of domestic violence and of resisting and obstructing a police officer. Preliminary examination was scheduled for May 23 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $5,000. The defendant was currently lodged.

• Gayle Marie Hershiseradkids, 47, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of resisting and obstructing a police officer. Preliminary examination was scheduled for May 23 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $5,000. The defendant was currently lodged.

• Robert Winchell Train Jr., 38, of Belding, was arraigned on a charge of OWI. Pretrial was scheduled for May 19 ay 11 a.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.

• Phillip David Jennett Jr., 42, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of OWI. Sentencing was scheduled for May 23 of 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $3,500 bond.
