TRIAL COURT 3-8-2012

The following actions were taken in Lake County trial court for the week ending Thursday, Mar. 1, 2012:

  • Joseph Raymond Bernard, 27, of Cadillac, pleaded guilty to a charge of operating impaired. A charge of OWI was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $1,050, restitution of $55, and to serve 93 days; seven days now and the balance at the discretion of the court within one year.
  • Kenneth Mark Kryscia, 49, of Mount Pleasant, pleaded no contest to a charge of failing to stop after a personal injury accident. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $350, restitution of $600, and to serve one year; nine days now and the balance at the discretion of the court within one year.
  • David Phillips Lewellyn, 56, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of operating impaired. A charge of OWI was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $1,050 and to serve 93 days at the discretion of the court within one year.
  • Ashley Nicole Lowry, 25, of Luther, was arraigned on a charge of operating or maintaining a controlled substance (methamphetamine) lab. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 22 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on $7,500 bond.
  • Santana Lynn Stone, 25, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate (second or subsequent offense) and obstructing a police officer (disguise). Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 22 at 2 p.m. The defendant is free on $2,500 bond.
  • Floyd Garfield Butler, of Idlewild, was arraigned on charges of first-degree home invasion, and two counts of assault and battery. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 8 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $10,000 bond.
  • Sheila Ranae Henson, 30, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charges of taking/stealing or removing a credit card and second-degree home invasion. Preliminary examination was scheduled for Mar. 3 at 1:30. Bond was continued at $30,000. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Matthew James Williams, 30, of Baldwin, pleaded not guilty to a charge of arson (preparing to burn property less that $200). Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 12 at 1:30 p.m. He was also arraigned on a charge of probation violation. A hearing was scheduled for Mar. 12 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $5,000. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Cornelius Lamont Thompson, 19, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of receiving and concealing stolen property less than $200. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $250 and to serve 93 days; three days now (CTS) and the balance at the discretion of the court within one year.
  • Noah Benjamin Bell, 38, of Traverse City, pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) and operating with the presence of a controlled substance. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 8 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $5,000 bond.
  • Maxine Ruth Lambie, 61, of Luther, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana). Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 8 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Abriam Royal Wilkins-Yazdani, 29, of Reed City, pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a non-narcotic controlled substance and delivering or manufacturing a controlled substance (marijuana). The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $798 and to serve six months; four days now (CTS) and the balance at the discretion of the court over a period of 24 months’ probation.
  • Roy Henry Wright, 55, of Cadillac, pleaded guilty to a charge of OWI (third offense). The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $1,198 and to serve six months; three months now (nine days CTS) and the balance at the discretion of the court over a period of 36 months’ probation.
  • Trevor Lynn Carlson, 21, of Ionia, was arraigned on a charge of probation violation. A hearing was scheduled for Mar. 5 at 2 p.m. Bond was set at $20,000. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • David Scott Hopkins, 51, of Evart, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cocaine less than 25 grams. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $798 and to serve three months; two days now (CTS) and the balance at the discretion of the court over a period of 24 months’ probation. His driver’s license is suspended for six months; restricted license after three months.
  • Kenneth McCain, 48, of Highland Park, pleaded guilty to a charge of probation violation. A hearing was scheduled for Mar. 13 at 2 p.m. No bond was set; the defendant was currently lodged.
