TRIAL COURT 3-22-12

The following actions were take in Lake County trial court for the week ending Thursday, Mar. 15, 2012:

  • Sheila Ranae Henson, 30, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charges of second-degree home invasion, stealing, taking or removing a credit card, and two counts of third-degree child abuse. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 22 at 11 a.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Duane Allen Flynn, 25, of Luther, pleaded guilty to a charge of operating or maintaining a controlled substance (methamphetamine) lab. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $798 and to serve twelve months; 90 days now and the balance over a period of 36 months’ probation. His driver’s license is suspended (restricted license after 30 days).
  • Kip John Thomas, 48, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to a charge of resisting and obstructing a police officer. Charges of domestic violence and assault and battery were dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $798 and to serve six months (three months’ tether); eight days now (CTS) and the balance over a period of 24 months’ probation.
  • Gary Scott Smith, 53, of Luther, was arraigned on a charge of probation violation. A hearing was scheduled for Mar. 27 at 2 p.m. Bond was set at $50,000. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Timmy Lavern Derevage, 48, of Reed City, pleaded guilty to a charge of maintaining a drug house. Charges of firearms possession by a felon and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) were dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $798 and to serve 30 days; one day now (CTS) and the balance at the discretion of the court over a period of 18 months’ probation.
  • Darrin Christopher Thomas, 35, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana). A plea hearing was scheduled for Mar. 26 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Ronald Gregg Polega, 37, of Irons, was arraigned on charges of firearms possession by a felon, domestic violence, and driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate. Preliminary examination was scheduled for Mar. 26 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $10,000. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Matthew James Williams, 30, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of parole violation. A charge of arson/preparing to burn property less than $200 was dismissed. The defendant was sentenced to serve 30 days (20 days CTS).
  • Olga Linnette Moreno, 26, of Baldwin, pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $250 and to serve 93 days; five days now (CTS) and the balance at the discretion of the court within one year.
  • Dustin John Singleton, 27, of Manton, pleaded not guilty to a charge of disorderly person/drunk. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 22 at 9 a.m. Bond was set at $3,500. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Eugene Neal Hudson, 60, of Irons, pleaded no contest to a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon. Sentencing was scheduled for Apr. 2 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was continue; the defendant was currently lodged.
  • Anthony Santenil Holmes Jr., 23, of Idlewild, pleaded no contest to a charge of third-degree home invasion and was found guilty of a charge of contempt of court. Sentencing was scheduled for Apr. 4 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was set at $10,000. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Karl Lavern Wilkerson, 48, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charge of resisting and obstructing a police officer and of being an habitual offender (fourth offense). Preliminary examination was scheduled for Mar. 20 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
