TRIAL COURT 2-23-12

The following actions were taken in Lake County trial court for the week ending Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012:

  • Douglas Arthur Cox, 49, of Grandville, had a charge of domestic violence dismissed.
  • Joanne Mary Klooster, 51, of London, Ont., had a charge of domestic violence dismissed.
  • Edwin Jerry Muse, 49, of Chase, had a charge of domestic violence dismissed.
  • Kenneth Lee Miller, pleaded guilty to a charge of third-degree retail fraud. The defendant was sentenced to pay fines and costs of $250 and to serve 93 days at the discretion of the court within one year.
  • Robert William Brown, 30, of Luther, pleaded not guilty to a charge of driving while license suspended/allowing a suspended person to operate (second or subsequent offense). Pretrial was scheduled for March 8 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $3,500 bond.
  • Roy Lee Clothier, 50, of Luther, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana). Pretrial was scheduled for March 8 at 2 p.m. The defendant is free on personal recognizance bond.
  • Derek Allen Williams, 35, of Chase, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana). Pretrial was scheduled for March 8 at 9 a.m. The defendant is free on $3,500 bond.
  • Eric Stephen Norby, 37, of Chase, was arraigned on charges of larceny in a building and malicious destruction of fire/police property. Preliminary examination was scheduled for Feb. 16 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $10,000 bond.
  • Floyd Garfield Butler, of Bitely, was arraigned on charges of first-degree home invasion, and two counts of assault and battery. Preliminary examination was scheduled for Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. Bond was continued at $10,000. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Patricia Thelma Lehnen, 44, of Baldwin, pleaded not guilty to a charge of attempting to assault/ resist of obstruct a police officer. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 8 at 2 p.m. Bond was continued at $2,500. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Sheila Ranae Henson, 30, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of stealing/ taking or removing a credit card. Preliminary examination was scheduled for Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. Bond was set at $30,000. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Adam Charles Michael Brechting, 30, of Baldwin, was arraigned on charges of OWI (third offense) and operating under the influence of liquor with an occupant less than 16. Pretrial was scheduled for Mar. 8 at 2 p.m. Bond was continued at $10,000. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Chastity Mae Bowling Wert, 34, of Baldwin, was arraigned on a charge of stealing/ taking or removing a credit card. Preliminary examination was scheduled for Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. Bond was set at $15,000. The defendant was currently lodged.
  • Kip John Thomas, 48, of Baldwin, pleaded no contest to a charge of resisting and obstructing a police officer. Charges of domestic and violence and assault and battery were dismissed. Sentencing was scheduled for Mar. 13 at 1:30 p.m. The defendant is free on $10,000 bond.
  • Duane Allen Flynn, 25, of Luther, pleaded guilty to a charge of operating or maintaining a controlled substance (methamphetamine) lab. Sentencing was scheduled for Mar. 13 at 1:30 p.m. Bond was continued; the defendant was currently lodged.
