Suspicious fire destroys Lake County home
WOLF LAKE — The Michigan State Police fire marshal is investigating a suspicious fire which destroyed a home at Wolf Lake in Peacock Township on Wednesday evening.
Webber Township Fire Department firefighters, along with mutual aid crews, could not save the home. Crews worked from 4:47 to 8:06 p.m. to put the fire out.
“By the time the first firefighter got there, the home was fully engulfed with flames,” said Webber Fire Chief Aaron Summers. “There appears to be foul play, which local authorities and the state police fire marshal are looking into.”
Fire crews said the house belongs to a family who are currently in Florida.
Yates Township and Sauble, Elk and Eden fire departments also assisted Webber.
