Summer concert series begins

BALDWIN — Baldwin’s own summer concert series, “Sounds From the Forest/Echo Through the Timber”, begins its 20th season this Wednesday June 22 at 7 p.m. in the Wenger Pavilion behind Jones Ice Cream. Opening the series is the Rachel Davis Group with a blend of folk, bluegrass, and jazz of the 30s and 40s. Rachel is the lead singer from Shout Sister Shout and has joined with members of Steppin-In-It for this show.

The series continues on Saturday, June 25 with the Juggernaut Jug Band, of the Louisville KY Riverboat period jazz, mixed with humor, blues, ragtime, swing and even rock medleys. Guitars, trumpet, percussion, and bass, enhanced by washboards, kazoos and jugs on a few a tunes. Not just a novelty act, JJB takes their music seriously and doesn’t let their virtuosity get in the way of having fun. Other upcoming groups include Mary Rademacher with the Mark Kahny Band, Claudia Schmidt, Root Doctor, Robin Connell /Paul Brewer Quartet, and Bill Heid’s New York City All Stars.
