IDLEWILD — One of Idlewild’s biggest events of the season involves a weekend on the shores of Paradise Lake with guests enjoying music and camping in style.

The third annual Summer Oasis Tent Music Festival, hosted by event founder Cedric McDougle, will be from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, noon to 2 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19, at 310 E. Wilson Drive, Paradise Lake.

“This is a way to promote Idlewild,” McDougle said. “People come from major cities like Detroit and Chicago and spend their money here and buy or rent properties. We want to present good music for people to enjoy during their camping experience, along with enjoying barbecues, fishing on the lake and bike riding. The tent setups are something to see. At night, the lights decorating the tents are beautiful.”

The unique festival brings the worlds of camping and music together. Camping steps up a notch with glamping — camping with a glamorous twist.

Glampers compete for the most creative and ritziest tents with fun and unique themes. Recliners, furniture, table sets, flowers and other decorations grace tents.

Another highlight of the festival is a get-together of world famous DJs from Chicago, Detroit, Grand Rapids as well as Dallas and New Jersey. Each DJ will blare music throughout the camp for a party atmosphere during the day and well into the night.

Some of the DJs include Vic Lavender, Celestethedj Alexander, Ray Bone, Kristopher Jus Denson, Drake Phifer, Big Easy, DJ Righteous, DJ Kaely Kellz, Jihan Muhammad, Steve Maxwell, DJ Spivey, Raynard Hines, DJ Moonlighter and Frances Jaye.

Tent registrations includes four wristbands for the three-day festival. Wristbands and day/weekend passes will be issued upon check-in at festival gate. Day passes are $30 per day.
