Our sympathy is extended to the family of Ida Marie Valley, who died and was buried recently.  May she rest in peace.

Congratulations to Cindy Holmes, who became a first time grandmother with the birth of daughter Jennifer’s baby girl. Aliana Ella Plummer was born last week, to Jennifer Holmes and Dwayne Plummer. She weighed eight pounds, six ounces and was twenty inches long, with a full head of black hair. She is a real cutie.  I think Jen lives in Las Vegas, and I don’t know if we are going to be able to get Cindy back to Michigan, away from that new baby.

There is a new business in town. It’s called the Gift Shop, and its owned by Julie and Bobby Morgan. Its in the building that used to be the pizza place, next to Logger’s Landing. The hours for the Gift Shop are Friday, 9 a.m. un til 9 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The Gift Shop offers a little bit of everything, including helium filled balloons for every and any occasion. Julie offers purses, candles, leather goods, country accents, gift baskets and more. Stop in and check it out.

Have you noticed how everything seems to be in bloom this year. I don’t ever remember seeing so many blossoms as I have this year.  We should have an abundance of fruit later.

Come harvest time. Its wonderful to see everything turning green.

The Memorial Day Parade will be held on Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m., starting at the Luther Lions Building. Come on down and honor our veterans on this Memorial Day.

Thought for the week: A man never discloses his own character so clearly as when he describes another’s.

Have a great week.
