Sign up for 4H baseball/softball leagues now open

BALDWIN - It is time to get our community youth signed up for our local 4H baseball/softball leagues.

We are looking forward to an exciting 2012 season.

We would like to remind everyone that we encouraging all youth with interest in the baseball/softball program to sign-up. This includes all youth in Lake County (i.e. Baldwin, Bitely, Chase, Idlewild and Irons). Along with this also comes the need for volunteers to coach, umpire and team parents to assist the coaching staff in transportation needs between playing fields located here in Lake County.

So, please stop by our office at MSUE-Lake County. We are available Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.

Volunteer: It’s good for your health

People that volunteer often report greater life satisfaction than non-volunteers. It has also been reported that volunteers experience a decline in chronic pain and report less depression than non-volunteers. Some studies even reflect that states with higher volunteer rates have lower heart disease rates.

Many studies on the effects of volunteering and health report volunteering has a positive effect on physical and mental health, especially in older volunteers. Their volunteering experiences often give these volunteers a sense of purpose, keeping them active in their communities and helping to give them a sense of belonging. It also helps them maintain strong social ties.
