LAKE COUNTY — The Lake County Sheriff's department recently presented the Irons Food Pantry and Irons Community Center with a donation of $1000.00 from the ongoing Sheriff's Returnable Charity Campaign.

"It was a privilege to issue out another check today with the ongoing 'Sheriff's Returnable Charity Campaign,'" Sheriff Rich Martin said. "This is the result of more cans and bottles that have been received after the initial campaign run."

To date, the campaign has donated to the following charities:

• AMVETS Post 1988 - $2000

• Luther Lions Club - $2000

• VFW Post 5315 - $2000

• Bread of Life Food Pantry - $2000

• Peacock (NWLC) Senior Center - $1000

• Irons SDA Community Center/Pantry - $1000

The sheriff's department will continue to collect returnable bottles and cans. For collection times and dates, contact the sheriff's department at 231-745-2712. To arrange for large amounts of cans/bottle to be picked up, email rmartin@co.lake.mi.us

"The next $1000 should be ready to distribute in the next couple weeks," Martin said. "If you know of a local charity that needs assistance, please contact me."
