RCAPS superintendent hands in resignation

Middle school principal to take over temporarily

REED CITY — At a school board meeting Tuesday night, Reed City Area Public Schools superintendent Myra Munroe handed in her resignation. She had been employed at RCAPS since 2017.

"The school board has decided to go in a different direction with leadership, and with that, Dr. Munroe has decided to resign," RCAPS school board president Kim Johnson said, declining further comment.

During the meeting, school officials also appointed Dean McGuire, who has served as Reed City Middle School's principal for many years, as interim superintendent.

"Last night, the Board of Education appointed me as the interim superintendent at RCAPS. During this transition time, all members of our school family will continue to work together to do what is best for our kids," Dean Mcguire stated in a Facebook post on the district's page Wednesday morning.

Mcguire added, "there will be more communication to follow."

He did not respond to an email seeking further comment.
