BALDWIN — Inmates at the Lake County jail and the Lake County Residential Reentry Program will be remembered at Christmastime thanks to the generosity of Forgotten Man Ministries and local volunteers.

Last Wednesday, volunteers from the ministry and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office came together at Living Waters Church in Baldwin, who, along with parishioners, packed holiday bags for inmates and staff.

“At Christmastime, it is the time to remember that all people have feelings and need that sense of holiday spirit,” said Lake County Sheriff Rich Martin. “Those who’ve made mistakes should also be included. I have custody of inmates to serve a sentence, but that is where it ends. Our inmates are generally not to the level of hardened criminals, so they will eventually be released back into society.

“I am overjoyed by the hard work put forth by our jail and RRP volunteers. They make a difference in the day and lives of those they interact with.”
