PASTOR'S PEN: Thank God for His Word
By Robert Sponable
Pastor, Lake Community Bible Church
The Bible says, ''...the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus'' (2 Tim 3:15).
The Bible tells us that it's important to know about salvation. Thank God for His Word. By it, we can know the truth. I'm not talking about the ideas of men. I'm not telling you the traditions of men lead us to salvation. I am telling you we have the truth from God to let us know about salvation. ''All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:...''(2 Tim 3:16).
Don't submit your plan to God, seek His plan and believe it. Simply follow the word of God. ''So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God'' (Rom 10:17). Are you listening? Pay attention now!
God's plan will work if you act with God's plan. ''For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;...'''(Rom 1:16).
We are all sinners. We need a Savior. As good fortune would have it, Christ came from eternity past to be our Savior. God's plan of salvation was planned from the foundation of the world. The Gospel is Christ dying on the cross, shedding his blood to pay the debt of sin we owe; and God's plan worked. Jesus Christ rose from the grave to prove it. He purchased our gift of eternal life with that shed blood. We have a risen Savior. He awaits for sinners to approach by faith to receive salvation. To us it's free, but it cost Christ everything.
What will you do with this truth? ''The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple''(Psa 119:130). Where will you spend eternity? God's word will show you the right way to go.
''Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.''(Psa 119:105) Let it shine in your heart. Listen to what He says! ''Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever '' (1 Peter 1:23).
The only hope you have is to respond by faith in Christ. You need to trust Christ right now. Don't wait, don't hesitate. Trust Christ today! Remember, there are no guarantees for tomorrow, except through Christ.
You don't want to stand by and die in your sins. You must be born again. There is an urgent need. Time is running out. Make your choice for Christ while you may.
