PASTOR’S PEN: In search of peace in a hostile world

The world today is filled with confused and mixed up people. What should we be focused on to help us reach peace in our lives?

There are so many opinions to choose from in the chaos. We are awash in incomplete information which would change our direction in life.

We could use a good dose of truth.

The Bible says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”(Matt. 5:33)

There are many paper tigers today bringing fear and worry in life. We must learn to trust almighty God. He loves us. Listen to him. The Psalmist says, “I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints:”(Psalm 85:8)

Seek after God now. God knows what you really need. What are you seeking in life instead of God? What a waste of time. Is life only about seeking food, clothes and shelter? Is your life only about getting more and more? What about eternity? Do you really want a relationship with God?

He has the answer to our sin problem. Now shouldn’t He take first place in your list of priorities?

Salvation is through faith in Christ. This is where peace is found. Luke says, “Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.”(Luke 7:50)

We are saved by the grace of God. We can trust the Lord in this life, which will bring lasting peace to us, God’s plan from the foundation of the world. God’s plan came from eternity past when Christ took upon himself flesh. He came to be our sacrifice for our sin. God’s plan will work if you work God’s plan.

The Word of God says, “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”(Col. 3:15)

We have a responsibility to follow Christ for our peace. You can’t have true peace without Christ. Thank God we have a risen Savior, Jesus Christ, to bring us peace.

The Bible says, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”(Phil. 4:7) Why continue in worry and despair when it’s not necessary? Why not take Christ as your Savior today?

You won’t find true peace in the things of the world. Jesus said,”Peace I leave with you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”(Jn 14:27)

You won’t find real peace fulfilling all your fantasies of the flesh. “Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like.”(Gal.5:19-21)

No peace on this list. You won’t find lasting peace following the devil’s lies. He is a murderer and liar.(Jn. 8:44)

Where is the peace? Jesus said, “Ye must be born again.”(Jn. 3:3) Put your faith in the risen Saviour today for the peace you want today.
