PASTOR'S PEN: Beware of gossip goblins
How much damage is done today by hapless individuals who have too much time on their hands?
They enjoy creating drama. They tell tales. Repent from this sin.
The empty lives of some who enjoy emotional upheaval should come to the reality of life. Confess your sin. You will be held accountable before God.
The Bible says, "All liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Rev. 21:8).
Do not gossip. It's not worth it in the long run.
Gossip is defined as someone who to run about and tattle; to tell idle tales. Sometimes there are bits and pieces of truth but it's not required.
Another definition is one who chatters idly or repeats rumors about others. We should deal with gossip goblins in our lives.
We should pray to Almighty God as the Psalmist, "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." (Psa. 19:14)
There is hope for you in Christ. Stop bearing tales. God is against it.
He says, "Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the Lord." (Lev. 19:16)
Paul told us, "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." (Eph. 4:29)
Even if what you think you know is truth, does it build up the person or tear him down? Where is the grace?
Is your motive to help or hinder a man's character? Why would you destroy the reputation of someone?
here is great hurt and damage resulting from talebearing.
The Bible says, "The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly." (Prov. 18:8)
They are deep wounds. What kind of person are you?
"A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends." (Prov. 16:28)
It is unnecessary to tell all you think you know.
"A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter." (Prov. 11:13)
Why not keep your big fat mouth shut for once? Don't let the gossip goblin win.
Before you spread lies about someone, did you talk to the person involved face to face? Did you listen to a liar and repeat that liars tale?
Don't be foolish. Paul tells us, "Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members on of another." (Eph. 4:25)
What are you trying to prove with your practice? Stop enjoying wicked drama you create.
Remember, "Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth." (Prov 26:20)
You will one day give account. What do you think God thinks about your behavior?
"Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: BUT THEY THAT DEAL TRULY ARE HIS DELIGHT." (Prov. 12:22)
Gossip is disgusting to God. Stop it.
Don't let the gossip goblin destroy your eternity. Repent of your sin and put your faith in Christ.
He loves you and wants your best. Christ came from eternity past and shed his blood on the cross to pay our sin debt.
He will save you by his grace. He rose from the grave. We have a living Savior. Trust him today.
Face your sin and get forgiveness from God through Christ. Don't wait. Don't hesitate.
This is not my opinion. Jesus said, "Ye must be born again." (Jn 3:7)
Take his warning now.
