BALDWIN — The community is invited to visit the Lake County Historical Museum to celebrate the opening of the new military exhibit in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Visitors can view the unveiling of the exhibit from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the museum.

Displayed in three rooms of the museum, the exhibit includes uniforms of servicemen and women along with a wide variety of medals, trench art, items brought back from war-torn Germany, keepsakes, photographs and more. Also included are items from the women’s war effort here at home. Refreshments will be served.

The public is invited to bring their own WWI and World War II collectibles to share the evening of the event. Tables will be provided.

Unlike typical exhibits at the museum, many of the uniforms and artifacts are on loan from local members and will be returned to them following the close of the exhibit on Dec. 22. Anyone who can’t make the exhibit opening celebration — please make every effort to visit in the next couple of months. This is a “once in a lifetime” chance to see this collection of WWI and WWII memorabilia.
