BALDWIN — Dozens of young people tried their hands at making ornaments like children made over 100 years ago during the Lake County Historical Museum Old Fashioned Ornament Workshop on Saturday. This was the first year the workshop was presented at the new historical museum.

There were 10 different holiday crafts kids could choose to make.

Pine cones were transformed into decorated Christmas trees, and small sticks were bound together to form the Christmas star.

Beth Ann Blass-Murphy guided kids as they stringed popcorn. She encouraged them to use the ornament to feed wild critters when they were done using it for decoration.

Lake County Historical Museum Curator Jill Engelman was pleased with the turnout.

"We have been extremely busy," she said.
