Missing girl thought to be spotted in Lake County

BALDWIN — A missing teen from the Lansing area may have recently been seen at a Lake County grocery store.

Kayci Latoski, a 16-year-old girl who went missing from the Lansing area two weeks ago, was thought to be spotted at Houseman's Foods just south of Baldwin on Tuesday, Aug. 29, around 6 p.m.

Lessa Potter, staff commander for Greater Michigan Search and Rescue, said a tip was left on their website from someone who believed they saw Latoski at Houseman's Foods. Potter forwarded the tip to the Lansing State Police, who are handling the investigation of Latoski's case.

"She may be a victim of human trafficking," Potter said. "There are a lot of secluded wooded areas in Lake County which would be easy to hide someone. The tip may be a case of mistaken identity — someone thought they saw her. If we get another tip of someone who sees Latoski in Lake County, we plan to flood the area with flyers and search crews."

Latoski was last seen in Lansing on Aug. 13, 2017. She is 5'4" and 115 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. If anyone has any information or think they have seen Latoski, they are asked to contact  the Dewitt Township Police Department at (517) 669-6578 or the Lake County Sheriff Office at (231) 745-2712.
