Mardi Paws reaches out to pet friends

BALDWIN - Bright sunshine welcomed guests and their pets to the Mardi Paws Parade of Fools in downtown Baldwin on Saturday, Feb. 19.

Sponsored by Debbie’s Sportsman’s Lounge the events raised more than $500 for the Lake County Animal Control

shelter.

Friends and businesses donated food, treats, and collars for the shelter. Houseman’s Foods donated 20 50-pound bags of dog food.

Other donations included cat food, animal treats and collars. In addition to the parade, there were 50/50 raffles, a Silent Auction and a Cajun Buffett. Guests could also have their pictures taken with their pets courtesy of Darci Maldonado, owner of Pandora’s Box. More than $500 was raised for Lake County Animal control during the event.

Lake County businesses and individuals were very generous with their donations.

Many thanks to them, the hostess with the mostest, Deb, and to Renie Baker, the tireless solicitor for the event. Renie’s event day attire was provided by Teri of the Community Thrift Center, Baldwin.
