Man rescued from Baldwin River
BALDWIN — A man was rescued after being trapped in the Baldwin River on Friday evening.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a 52-year-old male trapped in the Baldwin River at approximately 8:23 p.m. near an address off Grasshopper Lane in Pleasant Plains Township.
The male was trapped against a log jam in the river, according to Sgt. Chad Hurrle in a press release.
Deputies threw the man a rope, but he was suffering from hypothermia and was unable to grasp the rope. Deputies then entered the water and were able to free the man from the log jam and get him to shore.
The man was transported to Reed City Hospital to be treated for hypothermia.
Also on scene were Life EMS, Pleasant Plains Township Fire Department, Yates Fire Department and Lake Township Rescue.
