LUTHER — Residents of Luther are gearing up for the holiday season. A number of festivities and Christmas activities are planned through December.
- The Fifth Annual “Not Just” Ginger Bread Contest begins Thursday, Dec. 1 and will go through Dec. 17 at the Luther Area Public Library, located at 115 State St., Luther. There are no specific rules for the designing the gingerbread houses — just be creative. Materials do not have to be edible. Items such as duct tape, hot glue, Lego’s, sticks and papier mache can be used. Those interested can bring their creations to the library starting Dec. 1. The houses will be on display for judging by donation, through Dec. 17. Call the library at 797-8006 for more information.
- The Luther Area Public Library will host an open house from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. The event will kick off with a holiday magic show at noon. Santa and his elves are scheduled to visit at 1:15 p.m. Kids will have the opportunity for their photo to be taken with Santa. The open house also will include Christmas carols, food and drinks, doughnut decorating and a chance to vote for a favorite gingerbread house.
- Luther Church of Christ will host a Holiday Bazaar from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 2. at the Ellsworth Township Hall, located at 211 State St., Luther. Holiday items such as homemade pies, breads, rolls, cookies, homemade jams, cinnamon rolls fruit cake, fudge and craft items will be available.
- There will be a Christmas Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4 at Rockwell Lake Lodge located at 3943 N. Skookum Road, Luther. Visitors will be able to enjoy live entertainment and a tour of the lodge and property. Refreshments will be served.
